Allowing access to embedded Vimeo videos (when Vimeo.com is blocked)

If your learners are accessing courses on a network that filters out content hosted on Vimeo.com, allow them to view only embedded Vimeo videos.

Are you currently utilizing a course on the Interplay Learning platform that includes securely embedded Vimeo videos with educational content? If so, you may encounter a challenge if your learners are accessing the course from a school or workplace network that blocks Vimeo.com. So, what can you do in this situation?

Each network's firewall or filtering system will be different. Here are some general guidelines you can share with your network manager.

Manually whitelist Vimeo URLs

If you want to allow your learners to access embedded Vimeo videos, you can follow these steps:

    1. Whitelist the URL of the Interplay Learning account and the following domains:

  • *.vimeocdn.com
  • *.vimeo.com/api
  • *.player.vimeo.com
  • cdn.embedly.com
    2. On your filter, allow secure (encrypted) requests from vimeo.com.

    3. Clear your browser cache, refresh, and all the embedded videos on the site should play. You may also need to whitelist Interplay Learning's sub-processors

Whitelist all

You can also whitelist all of the following domains, but this will permit access to all content vimeo.com:

  •     *.vimeo.com
  •     *.vimeocdn.com
  •     *.magisto.com
  •     *.akamaized.net
  •     *.cloudfront.net
