Your headsets will require some setup before they’re ready for your learners! To provide the best experience, consider the following recommendations for your VR headsets.
Setup
It's crucial to create unique emails for each Meta headset to ensure proper account setup, as Meta requires one unique email per device. This helps streamline management and keeps each headset’s data separate!
- Have your IT department create generic emails for each headset (e.g., hvacheadset1@schoolname.edu).
- Meta allows one email per device, each email must be unique.
- Need help creating multiple email addresses at once? Use this trick!
- Once each headset is assigned an email, set up their Meta accounts
- After creating your headset’s meta account, ensure you’re using the correct VR app to utilize our training. Confirm with your Account Manager or Implementation Manager if you have questions.
Organization & Safety
Organizing your headsets and controllers is an important part of keeping your learning environment ready to go for your learners!
- Label each headset and controller with corresponding numbers (e.g., Headset #1 with Controller #1).
- Keep in mind that you cannot mix and match quest controllers. Controllers are permanently paired to their original headset.
- Store headsets in cases or their original boxes. Keep controllers paired with their designated headsets.
- Designate a VR space in your classroom (recommended 6.5 ft x 6.5 ft), and use tape or a mat to mark boundary
Management & Connectivity
Involving your IT in the setup and management of your headsets will provide the best experience for your learners!
- Check with IT to ensure your wifi can handle the amount of headsets you’d like to utilize at once
- Ensure that technical requirements (ports, firewalls, whitelisting) are set up correctly.
- For more than 10 headsets, you may want to consider management software like Meta Quest for Business or ManageXR.
Engagement
Involving students in the setup process can help enhance their engagement and ownership of the VR experience!
- Recruit students to help set up headsets (e.g., wifi, app downloads).
- Cast VR content to a Smartboard or TV for a shared learning experience.
Following these best practices will ensure smooth and safe VR experiences in your classroom.
