Content Manager Overview

Content Manager is a new feature available to our Enterprise subscribers which allows users with the Content Manager role to create custom content

What does Content Manager do?

Content Manager lets you create, upload, and organize custom training content for your team. It supports SCORM files, MP4s, and more, allowing you to build personalized learning paths for your organization.

Custom content can only be created by users with the role Content Manager, using the browser.

Content Manager users are not currently able to create content via mobile app.


How to Use Content Manager

1. Create a Catalog

  • Go to the Command Center > Manage Content.
  • Click Create Catalog, name it, and add a thumbnail image (optional). Click Create.
  • Your custom Catalog will be hidden from your learners until it contains a published course. 

2. Add a Course

  • Open your catalog and click Add New Course.
  • Choose either Online Course or Instructor-Led Training (ILT).
  • Your course will be hidden from learners until it is published. 

3. Add Content

  • You can create an Instructor-Led Training, upload a SCORM package to create a full course, or build a course from scratch using the Course Builder.
    • Instructor Led Training: allows instructors to schedule, track, and manage in-person or virtual training sessions for learners.
    • Upload by SCORM Package: If you select to add your content using a SCORM package, you will be prompted to upload your .ZIP SCORM package file from your computer 
    • Build from Scratch with Course Builder: a tool that allows you to outline your own Lessons and Activities and add videos, or images to them by uploading them from your computer

4. Publish Courses

  • Once ready, publish your course to make it available for learners and instructors.
    • Once a course is published, it will be available for instructors to assign it and for learners to enroll in it. The course will be visible in the custom Catalog you created alongside their other Interplay Catalogs on the "All Catalogs" page. It will also appear alongside other Interplay courses on the learner dashboard, learner progress page, and reports.  

Once a course is published, you will no longer be able to access Course Builder to add, remove, or edit the content in the course.

  • Who can use Content Manager?
    Content Manager is available to Enterprise subscribers with the appropriate Content Manager role.
  • Can I add custom courses to learning paths?
    Yes, custom courses can be added alongside Interplay courses.
  • Are custom courses included in reporting?
    Yes, they are tracked like any other course
  • Can custom courses be assigned?
    Yes! Custom courses can be assigned just like any other course.
  • Do custom courses earn points for the leaderboard? 

    Learners are able to earn points for completing video activities within custom courses. They do not currently earn points for opening SCORM packages, documents, or image activities.

  • Can I add a custom course to an Interplay catalog or just to custom catalogs? Custom courses can only be added to custom catalogs.
  • When a course is uploaded from a SCORM package, can it be modified after the fact to add additional content? 
    No. A course created from a SCORM package cannot be modified. A new course would have to be created with a new SCORM package.
  • Can I control which custom catalogs and courses my groups see?
    Not right now. By default, all published custom courses appear for all learners on your site. To restrict access by sub-group, you'll need to reach out to Customer Support for assistance.
