Why won't my YouTube links in my Custom Learning Paths launch in the desktop app?- Article

YouTube links require an extra step to be launchable from our desktop app because YouTube has certain restrictions in place, but rest assured, there's a super easy fix!

When you've included YouTube links in any of your Custom Learning Paths, they will launch from a browser like Chrome or Firefox.
However, they won't launch from the tablet app or desktop app unless the "embed" step is taken.
This is because YouTube does not allow their links to be launched in iFrame, so we have to add a fancy "emded" link before the video ID in order for the YouTube video to launch from our desktop app.

YouTube links will launch in browser, but will not launch in desktop app or tablet app unless the "embed" step it taken.
Here is the fancy "embed" link:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/ [insert video ID here]

For example, here's the pattern with the regular link followed by the embed link:
  1. Take your regular link -- it will look like option A or B, either will work
    1. https://youtu.be/tfjWuzy2CTA
    2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfjWuzy2CTA
  2. Copy the video ID, in this case the video ID is tfjWuzy2CTA
    1. tip: the video ID will be after the backwards slash / or the equal sign =
  3. Paste it after the embed link --
    1. https://www.youtube.com/embed/ [insert video ID here]

      https://www.youtube.com/embed/tfjWuzy2CTA
  4. Copy and paste this link into your Custom Learning Path.
